I love making games.
I have created games on and off the computer, for adults and children, from commercial entertainment to non-profit research, education, and art contexts. This section of this website includes images and descriptions of games I have created, including many of the games that I helped to design at Gamelab.
What ties my work together is an interest in creating new forms of play. Although games are one of the most ancient forms of designed human interaction, there are vast areas of game aesthetics, content, and gameplay yet to be explored. I see games as a vibrant form of culture as elemental as music, the moving image, or the written word.
What I making at the moment? I’m a member of Local Number 12, a game collective that includes Mike Edwards, Colleen Macklin, and John Sharp, to create games for Twitter. The Leisure Society, another independent collective that includes Jesper Juul, Colleen Mackin, John Sharp, and Michael Sweet, is creating an experimental narrative game. Naomi Clark and I are working with Fresh Planet to make Facebook Games. I’m working with NYC-based companies like Games for Change, E-Line Ventures, Worldwide Biggies, Curious Pictures, and the Leonard Bernstein Office to conceptualize and design games for consoles, social networks, and web. And I’m collaborating with NYC designers Josh Debonis, Karen Sideman, and others to make board games, iPhone games, and online games.
